About ME

dirty habit movie posterI started Motherlode Pictures in 1998 to produce my own low budget narrative films. In 2007 I finished Dirty Habit, a thriller about a nun and a drug addict getting trapped in an elevator. It won Best Feature at the Lausanne Underground Film Festival and Best Drama Feature at the Atlanta Underground Film Festival.  While Dirty Habit was playing in festivals, my family and I relocated from Los Angeles to central New York.

In 2008 I returned to Los Angeles to be a set dresser for the one and only (sadly) season of a show called The Middleman. After that I stopped paying union dues to the Hollywood Local 44 and settled in to the rural life.

In New York I’ve done cinematography, animation, video editing, graphics, web design, fine art painting and other art jobs.  An animation I made with John Gurche (see above) went viral in 2015. Oddly, I get copyright infringement complaints from people who think THEY own it. This is a window on human nature I wish I didn’t have to look into. I direct all such complaints to this page, which instantly settles all claims  and proposes  some  interesting  ideas  about human evolution  as well.  star

After a four-year experiment in commercial video production, I have decided to focus on writing, painting, graphics and other things. I continue to work with the artists, musicians, and scientists with whom I have working relationships and ongoing productions. But I’ve decided to stop meeting with new clients for commercial projects unless they are fully funded and wholly creative.

If you are looking for an award-winning Hollywood-style director for a narrative film, or want straight documentation of your own performancepresentation or creation, see my production packages and give me a call.  I charge $45/hour for post-production work. You can see examples of my work in the gallery section of this site’s menu.
